#10 Doom Eternal The Ancient Gods Part One
- Developer: Id Software
- Publisher: Bethesda
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: October 20, 2020
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Fans really craved Doom Eternal after the smashing success of 2016’s Doom reboot. However, one element that fans really hated about the reboot was the lack of content after the campaign ended. That was one element that the development studio at id Software really wanted to change up and as promised, we’re seeing our first DLC release coming for Doom Eternal. This installment will take place after the events of Doom Eternal, but we’ll of course refrain from spoiling anything in case you haven’t played the latest installment to the Doom franchise.
At any rate, this DLC storyline is said to take players into the heavens and having to battle against some ancient gods. Included in this mix is a brand new set of levels and enemies to face against. We’re not going to see new weapons from what was stated for this game already. Instead, this DLC will apparently bring out some new weapon mods that players might not have used as much during the main campaign. But, this is just the first DLC so we could see more weapons get added into the mix at a later DLC launch. For now, it looks like players can expect more of the same gameplay mechanics but in a brand new setting, storyline, and demonic foes to blast away into a million pieces.

#9 Watch Dogs: Legion
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, Google Stadia
- Release: March 6, 2020
- Co-op: Online 4 Players
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Watch Dogs is receiving a third main installment to the franchise next year. Ubisoft is taking players to London with Dedsec hoping to end a new powerful regime hitting the United Kingdom but there is a slight change up from previous Watch Dogs installments. With Watch Dogs: Legion players are not going to focus on a single character protagonist but instead a wide variety of potential NPCs. Instead of having a single player that is capable of every skill, the game puts a focus on recruiting NPCs that may have a useful attribute towards a mission. During E3 2019, we got a look at that with a mission regarding players having to seek out a drones expert.
During the gameplay mission, players were able to identify a character that is suitable at hacking drones and began his quest to recruit the specific character. With that said, during the mission, our protagonist was killed. Instead of a reaching a game over screen, the game put players in control of a member that is already recruited within the roster. From there players continued to pursue the character in hopes of recruiting him towards Dedsec.
It looks as if every character is capable of dying for good in-game so expect a rotating cast of characters to play as. Likewise, this is still an action-adventure title with plenty of missions and the ability to choose how to reach the end goal. For instance, you can opt for a more stealth-based approach or go in guns blazing. Also, just like the past installments, there is a wide assortment of gadgets and hacking tech around the city in order to cause a diversion or a more powerful attack using the environment around you.
#8 Marvel’s Avengers
- Developer: Crystal Dynamics
- Publisher: Square Enix
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, Google Stadia
- Release: May 15, 2020
- Co-op: Online Only 4 Players
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Marvel’s Avengers is an upcoming video game by Crystal Dynamics which will tell a unique story of earth’s mightiest heroes. Overall, the game takes place during the celebration of the Avengers new headquarters unveiling in San Francisco, but a catastrophic incident occurs leaving the city destroyed. This event goes down in history and as a result of Earth outlaws all heroes, though years go by and a new threat emerges. Humanity requires dire help and has resulted in the Avengers putting aside their differences and stepping up to once again save the world.
This upcoming title received its first real unveiling during E3 2019 so at the time of writing this, there is not a ton of information to really go off on. With that said, it looks as if there will be a wide variety of Marvel heroes appearing in the game with the staple characters such as Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America already confirmed. With that said, there will be additional heroes added into the game after launch but they will come as free updates. At the moment, the gameplay looks to be rather linear with players swapping between various characters of the game. As a result, gameplay may drastically alter between the hero you portray at any given moment. For example, Black Widow is more stealthy and quick on her feet while the Hulk can deliver a devastating tank-like blow.
#7 Final Fantasy VII Remake
Best Action Games Apk
- Developer: Square Enix
- Publisher: Square Enix
- Platforms: PS4
- Release: March 3, 2020
- Co-op: N/A
- Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
The Final Fantasy series has been around for decades and over the years there have been a few notable titles that stood out among the rest. One of those video game titles is Final Fantasy VII which is a game that released originally on the PlayStation back in 1997. Since its release, there have been vocal fans pleading to Square Enix to go back and remake the video game title for the current generation platforms. After years of requests, the remake is finally coming to the marketplace for the PlayStation 4 in March of 2020. Overall, it looks like the same storyline is intact with Cloud Strife joining with an eco-terrorist group known as Avalanche as they battle against the corrupt Shinra megacorporation.
With that said, a few notable changes are being made to the video game title that was not present during its initial PlayStation release. For starters, this video game title will drop the classic turn-based combat for an action RPG mechanic, so you can think of the Kingdom Hearts style of gameplay for comparison. Another big change-up compared to the original release is that this game will be launching as an episodic adventure so players will receive parts of the game initially until its fully complete. Gameplay footage has been showcasing some intense fast-paced action sequences and we’re sure that this game will be full of cinematic experiences which again, you’ll be able to enjoy starting on March 3, 2020.
#6 Call of Duty: Warzone
- Developer: Infinity Ward, Raven Software
- Publisher: Activision
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: March 10, 2020
- Co-op: Online
- Competitive Multiplayer: Online
Call of Duty is an iconic action FPS video game franchise. We’re not seeing any shortages of this IP releasing into the market as each year developers bring out a new installment for players to enjoy. With that said, there have been rumors stating that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would receive a battle royale game mode. Battle royales are incredibly popular right now and the rumors turned out to be true. In fact, not only did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare receive a battle royale game mode, but it also was made free to those that didn’t own a copy of Modern Warfare. As a result, fans quickly downloaded and enjoyed this free-to-play FPS Call of Duty multiplayer game.
Just like with other battle royales video games, Call of Duty: Warzone throws players into a squad or a solo game match. From there, players are dropped into a massive map and must scavenge for resources while attempting to take down other opposing players. While the map size shrinks, the overall goal is to be the last man or team standing.
Check your ammo and gather your health packs as we’re diving into the best action video game titles to have released in the past five years. There has been so many great action titles launched into the market that it was difficult in dwindling the list to just thirty titles and as a result, I think we’ll see plenty of debate on what should be included in a future update.
With that said, I think you’ll still find thirty amazing action video game titles to play from this list below. From action titles with a sneaky stealth component to full blown war games where players must dive directly into the enemy forces. These video game titles are some of our favorites but let us know what your favorite action title is by leaving a comment down below!
#40 Just Cause 3
- Developer: Avalanche Studios
- Publisher: Square Enix
Just Cause 3 is the third game in the long-running Just Cause series of third-person action games. Offering a vast open world setting on a fictional Mediterranean island known as Medici, series protagonist Rico Rodriguez returns, this time to oust a dictator named General Di Ravello from power.
The game’s map size has been confirmed to be similar to that of Just Cause 2, offering 400 square miles of content–but with increased verticality. The game is the biggest and baddest entry in the series to date.
#39 Far Cry Primal
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
Far Cry Primal, will take players back into the past, more specifically, 10,000 BCE during the Mesolithic period. Players take the role of Takkar, one of the last remaining members of the Wenja tribe, a group of peaceful people that is often made an easy target from other tribes within the world. Takkar decides to take his remaining people and lead them from extinction which will be a tough task facing against the other more powerful tribes and the diverse wildlife.
Speaking of the wildlife, animals will play a major role in Far Cry Primal where players can tame and use them to their advantage. Some of the animals present in the game are saber-toothed cats, woolly mammoths, cave bears, dire wolfs, jaguars, snow leopards, among others. Each of these animals will have a particular skill level to use against enemies, for example, the cave bear is great for defense and can be led in to take out a number of enemies without a problem.
Weapons are primitive with players having to seek out resources to craft most of their arsenal. For the most part, players will be using bows, spears, blades, and clubs to fight against enemies though as we pointed out earlier, wildlife can be used to your advantage as well. One aspect that is amiss from the previous Far Cry 4 release is multiplayer. Far Cry Primal is a single-player title as Ubisoft felt multiplayer would take away from the story and gameplay experience.
#38 Rage 2
Rage 2 will toss players into the role of Walker who is the last ranger. It’s your job to survive in this dangerous world after mutants flooded the world thanks to an otherworldly asteroid struck the surface. Thirty years have passed since the events of the first Rage so you can expect to see a few familiar characters. This is still a brutal FPS with an open world for players to explore while also facing a wide range of hostiles. There are also a few new weapons being tossed in such as a spear that can track down enemies for players to send out and eliminate which should add an extra bit of strategy during the chaotic firefights.
#37 Far Cry New Dawn
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: February 15, 2019
Note: Spoilers for Far Cry 5
If you enjoyed Far Cry 5 then you know that the ending leaves you hanging. At the end of the game you find that the world is on the brink of collapsing due to the end of the world and you find yourself stuck with the antagonist where the game ends following credits. Now if you’re hoping to find out what happens after the credits roll and what has happened to Hope County after the nuclear blast then you’ll get the opportunity in Far Cry New Dawn. This title takes place seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5 where you will find returning characters from Far Cry 5 and the result of the protagonist and antagonist of Far Cry 5.
With Hope County mangled and distorted by the nuclear blast, players will find new land masses to explore. Survivors have started to rebuild the world but a new threat of bandits has prevented Hope County from truly being free from tyranny control. Players will be stepping up to free up outposts and preventing from the new bandit group controlled by twin sisters from destroying Hope County and the innocent citizens who dwell within it.
This is a game is really more of Far Cry 5 so if you really enjoyed it then this title will be well worth getting. You’re still have plenty of exploring and action with a new crew of enemies to fight off. Likewise, there are new weapons to use against such as a gun rigged up to shoot out circular saws.
#36 Call of Duty WWII
- Developer: Sledgehammer Games
- Publisher: Activision
The Call of Duty franchise has been around for decades, but as of late the series has been turning towards more futuristic and current settings. That had changed last year with Call of Duty: WWII, where the franchise, much like Battlefield, took players back to a more primitive warfare.
As the name suggests, Call of Duty: WWII is a look back into the Second World War and it definitely feels a bit more gritty and gnarly then we’ve ever seen the war before in a video game medium. Players are centered around a narrative that follows the 1st Infantry Division on the Western Front.
An interesting little side note to toss into here is the fact that Call of Duty: WWII doesn’t feature an auto-regeneration for health. This has been the norm for the Call of Duty franchise, but with the setting of an old war filled with grit, courage and the horrors of being on the battlefield, players will need to seek cover and health kits to stay alive.
Multiplayer is still very much a big thing with the Call of Duty franchise and the latest title is not missing any beats. You can still enjoy the various online game modes competitively and of course there is a Zombies mode to go through as well.
